Peanut Butter and Jelly – 1,000 Ways
Ellie Wilson, MS, RDN Senior Nutritionist
Happy Peanut Butter and Jelly Day! PB&J, enjoyed by all ages, is, as they say, a keeper. The folks at Skippy would know – they wrote the (recipe) book on peanut butter history, which they started crafting back in 1932. Peanut butter can be dressed up or down, spiced or sweetened, cold or hot, baked, grilled or even deep fried – so versatile that everyone can find a way to make it their own.
And they do try – peanut butter has been purchased by 94% of U.S. households’, and has thousands of recipe boards and pins on Pinterest! Peanut butter and jelly takes so many forms – candy, donuts, cheesecake, snacks, ice cream, muffins, pie and pancakes – the list goes on. For the truly devoted, there is even peanut butter and jelly hair color! (Whaaaaat???)
Menu innovation continues with the almost endless mix and match of different bread options, and the savory and sweet varieties of jellies, jams and preserves (spice it up with our Culinary Tours Peach and Habanero Pepper, or Raspberry Chipotle Spread) – so much to enjoy, and so many new ideas we haven’t seen yet.
