Artistic, safe, fun, family-friendly and community-based. Do those words describe your New Year’s Eve plans? Well, they can if you attend your local First Night Celebration. Best of all, Price Chopper can help you get there!
So what exactly is First Night? Let’s go to the official website for an explanation. “It all began in Boston in 1976 with a small local group of artists who were inspired to create a new kind of New Year’s revelry emphasizing community spirit,” the site says.
Today, First Night is a festive, alcohol-free celebration filled with music, comedy, magic acts, dance performances, art, fireworks and more.
This year, First Night is being celebrated throughout the Price Chopper region in Burlington, Oneonta, Saranac Lake, Saratoga, St. Johnsbury and Worcester. You can purchase buttons to a First Night Celebration at your local Price Chopper in any of those areas (Buttons, instead of tickets, are your admission to the festivities)!
Still not sold? You’re in for a treat when you check out painting in the street in Worcester. The kids will laugh and learn with Circus Smirkus in Burlington. Be amazed by the “Human Jukebox” in Saratoga.
Get ready to relive the ’60’s with the Mellow Yellow Experience in St. Johnsbury. Pretty much every type of music and entertainment is available in Saranac Lake; they’ve got Rock N’ Roll, Bluegrass, Folk, Celtic, comedy, magic and venriloquists.
If you’re out in Oneonta, be prepared, “It’s the BIGGEST PARTY Oneonta has seen this century!” according to their First Night Celebration website.
There’s all this and so much more! From its beginning, First Night’s mission has been to broaden and deepen the public’s appreciation of the visual and performing arts through an innovative, diverse and high quality New Year’s Eve program, offering the community a shared cultural experience that is accessible and affordable to all.
So, this is the year to have a safe, family-friendly and fun filled New Year’s Eve. Head to Price Chopper to pick up your First Night button! Please see https://www.pricechopper.com/ for more details!
